OUR STORY

Special Olympics Halifax is one of Special Olympics Nova Scotia¹s largest regions. We have 200 athletes of all ages participating in athletics, basketball, bocce, bowling, curling, figure skating, floor hockey, golf, soccer, softball, speed skating, snow shoeing, swimming and track and field. Programs are available from September to August depending on the sport and are located at various venues throughout Halifax. We invite residents from the Halifax Regional Municipality to join our sports and experience the joy that is Special Olympics.

Once a part of the Capital Region Special Olympics that encompassed Halifax, Dartmouth, and Sackville/Bedford residents, the newly formed Halifax Region has grown and prospered as an important area within Nova Scotia. Our commitment to providing a quality environment for both coaches and athletes has contributed to Special Olympics Halifax having representation at several National and World Games. Our congratulations to all who attended and achieved great results personally and professionally.

As with any sport organization, the Special Olympics Halifax depends greatly upon the support of our local community to assist our athletes in their pursuit of sport excellence. We thank the many businesses, organizations and family members who have contributed to our fundraising efforts, supported our athletes in their training and lent their moral support.

We aim to ensure all athletes receive the very best training and competitive experience by providing the highest quality coaches, games and life experiences available. We encourage you to explore in greater depth our website and invite you to become a member of the Special Olympics Halifax and Nova Scotia family, where little by little, step by step, we are making a difference!
